Start where you are...

Today I have an unexpected design to share with you... I went CAS for this week's challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such: Winter Birds. I'm enjoying the cooler weather, but thankfully we only get rain. For all of you whose towns have been covered with snow, I hope you're staying warm and creative! So let me inspire you a bit with my clean and simple Winter card.

I die cut a card base with Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A. I created a scene on the actual card front with Penny Black's Tweet Tweet stamp set. I used Memento ink for the lilac branches and heat embossed the bird on the branch with Gold detail embossing powder from Sparkle 'n Sprinkle. I also heat embossed a wonderful sentiment from Cas-ual Fridays Stamps called Breathe... What a encouraging sentiment!

As you can see I sprayed the card with lilac and gold. The lilac drops and sprays were done with a DIY Distress Ink spray I made using Shaded Lilac Re-Inker and water mixed in a Empty Spritzer Bot…

Shabby Asters Bouquet + Tutorial - ODBDSLC223

Every third week of the month Our Daily Bread Designs will host an inspiration challenge. In this occasion our inspiration photo for the challenge is a gorgeous shabby chic image, with colors, patterns and textures that you will enjoy working with!

Supplies
Aster dies
Fancy Foliage dies
Beautiful Borders dies
Doily dies
Mini Tag dies
Mini Tag Sentiments
Flourished Star Pattern

I created a shabby chic mixed media card with lot's of texture and elements that resemble those from the inspiration photo. To create the background:

1. Die cut a pierced matting layer using ODBD's Flourished Star Pattern.
2. Use a stencil to add embossing paste. I mixed a drop of Distress re-inker in Spun Sugar to a bit of Dreamweaver Pearlescent paste.
3. Cut pieces of drywall tape (from the hardware store) roughly and adhere to the card as desired.
4. Apply Distress Ink Spray in Peeled Paint to opposite corners of the layer.
5. Add a piece of patterned paper and a die cut border from ODBD's Beautiful Bor…

For YOU with love

Happy Monday! I have the privilege to share a card I made just for fun today, and I say privilege because I don't always have the time to make an extra card. I have been experimenting with different materials to create organic looking embellishments. My last card featured a DIY rosette embellishment made of a very common every day material. I will have a tutorial on that this week, so stay tuned and join me on Friday for all the details on that project made for Ann Butler Designs! Then tomorrow you'll see a mixed media card I created for this week's challenge at ODBD, featuring a product found at the hardware store that I used to add texture to the card. There will be another complete tutorial on that project also! But today, I bring you a card featuring one of my deepest paper crafting obsessions... Handmade flowers! I experimented with crepe paper! Yes, that's right, the one used for party decorations.

I had this idea of using crepe paper to try a new look for my inf…

A Vintage Rose & a Birthday Wish

This week our challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such is: Pink and Polka Dots. The photo inspiration for the challenge is both fun and vintage, with those lovely porcelain dolls, but I decided to go vintage all the way with my card for today.

I love using digital patterned papers, and I only print them on White Pearl Linen. The vintage floral paper you see me using is one I recently designed and that's available for free download on the Freebies section (on top). I sponged the polka dot paper mixing Ann Butler Crafter's Inks, Sunshine and Color Box Crafter's Ink, Bark. I used a pierced matting die from Our Daily Bread Designs Flourished Star Pattern set to cut the patterned papers. I cut the patterned layers in halves and adhered one on top of the other to create a base for all the embellishments.

I created a rose using Spellbinders Rose Creations and sprayed it with a mix of water and Ann Butler's Crafter's Ink in Berry, using a Spritzer Bottle. I decided I wanted t…

Morning Glories - ODBD Color Challenge

It's time for a color challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs. We have a lovely color scheme to inspire you this week! I love the tones of lilacs combined with the peachy pink and vanilla included on the color board, in fact those are some of my favorite colors.

Supplies
Glory stamp set
The Gate stamp set
Vintage Flourish Pattern dies
Doily dies
Fancy Foliage dies
Flourished Star Pattern die

I used different metallic cardstocks for my card's layers. I die cut a background lilac layer with Flourished Star Pattern. This set has a beautiful pierced matting layer die, that I use all the time. To add contrast I die cut a beautiful Vintage Flourish Pattern from pink metallic cardstock and adhered it on top of the lilac layer.

The beautiful Morning Glories were stamped on white cardstock, and I actually was trying to do partial die cutting until this happy accident ocurred! I love how the stamped flowers frame the Doily label. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and stenciled the …
